Question
Why are there characters to the left of all console entries after upgrading or installing Domino 8.5.3?

Image:Lotus Domino 8.5.3 ships with Thread ID debug enabled by default
Cause
Domino 8.5.3 ships with debug_threadid enabled by default.

Answer
Domino server now ships with debug_threadid enabled, This provides IBM with more detailed information about any problem which might occur on your server.
This could cause an issue for any application which attempts to read the console log and is unable to handle the extra data.
To disable

set config debug_THREADID=0

This will remove the thread information to the left of each console entry.

If you wish to re-enable

set config debug_threadid=1
